Poll Question:
So the series of Scrubcasts is now six episodes old. What are the initial opinions - is it worth continuing or should the idea be shelved?

Choices:

I love the Scrub daddy
Its pretty damn useful
Its ok I suppose
Not very impressed
That guy gives me a bad headache

Scrubcasts are fantastic! However one major flaw is the quite disturbng background music! It would be best to have none, but classical would suffice!

Woy, thanks for the feedback - welcome to the site. Yup the music is my choice unfortunately. I will see if I can get some classical music background for future episodes if you have any requests.

Maybe I will also release a music free version for the scrubcast purists later, maybe as part of the "best of scrubcasts" compilation! lol

I second the background music complaint -- not sure dance techno is the best accompaniment to pneumonia (though now that I think back, breast cancer + Titanic, without irony, was so over the top it was kind of funny.) But I'd say classical could be a step too far for (I assume) a reasonably young audience. Maybe something a little more ambient, at least? Or jazz, everyone likes jazz.

Aside from the music, great podcast, most relevant one I've found as a med student, perfect length to keep my wandering attention, and your accent (to this American) is very soothing.

Hi thanks for your comments - the idea is still in its infancy so we're willing to get new ideas to appease the demands of the masses! Yes, there is an element of over emphasizing the music - but the theory is, if you remember the song, you'll remember the boring info too! Now, if we had a non-specific jazz or classical tune, would it be as memorable?!

Discuss! Thoughts welcome!

yeah haha were all purists here ;)! I 100% support some pure lecture scrubcasts as they make fantastic audio revision aids (and we all know that we store 20% of what we hear compared to 10% of what we read! - both first times). The scrubcasts are absolutly fantastic and all I can say is keep up the good work guys............priceless! more more more haha :D

The Scrubcast is how I found this site. I'm from the United States and I adore your accent. I am not even a med student and I enjoy it.

Background music without vocals is the best, although I wish you would have used "My Heart Will Go On" for acute coronary syndrome.

Thanks for a great podcasts, the upbeat creative music helps with the recall - keep it up and remember those who rule the sandbox get to pick the toys ( music) I lookforward to some of the lesser remembered entities of medicine to be set to music so maybe I will remember them!
thanks
