I did my 'elective' in Westmead in Sydney. They were very relaxed and you could do as much or as little as you liked. I spent a lot of time seeing australia which was encouraged. Had a fab time.

Terrribly sorry for the slow reply. Im guessing you would have sorted your accommodation by now but if not then just give me a shout here and i'll try and help. Theres 2 hospitals in Westmead, the childrens and the general. I worked at the general and stayed in the accommodation there which was of a decent standard. You also get to meet the sydney students staying there.
Westmead is a bit further out of central sydney so you can feel out of the way but if you get to know the students and other elective people stayed in hospital digs then that helps and is a lot of fun.
Parramatta is an area which is close by westmead and easlity accessible by foot or bus. Its a bit more of a busy urban centre and one stop nearer central sydney. could be a good place to look for a flat.
I still know some people in sydney so if you need more advice then pls just leave a message and i can contact them.
Make sure you keep a note of what you get upto out there and then send us a really brief report with fotos. That'll be really handy for other people wanting to go there. Its the only way the site will grow
